Lola Mk 2
- 1960 Lola Mk 2 – Chassis #BRJ3
- Fitzwilliam Racing car for 1959 / 1960 / 1961. One of three successful team cars.
- Cambridge Racing car from 1961 until late 1962.
- Purchased by Phil Kerr (Brabham mechanic), exported to New Zealand where it competed in the 1963 New Zealand Grand Prix finishing in 4th place. (Reference “Historic Racing Cars of New Zealand” by Vercoe).
- Vehicle was then sold to Ken Smith (Morrie Smith was Ken’s father) and Morrie competed in the 1964 New Zealand Grand Prix. DNF due to engine failure.
- Dennis Simonds was next to own the vehicle, purchasing it in 1965.
- Spinner Black was the next owner, and it is believed he raced it as some kind of a sports car by suspending additional body work along the sides of the vehicle between the front and rea wheels (very resourceful those Kiwi’s).
- Mike Ross took charge of the vehicle sometime in the 1970s before being sold back to Ken Smith in the mid-1970s. The car stayed here until it was sold to Matt Carroll in 1978.
- Matt Carroll of Australia purchased the car in 1978. Matt Carroll competed regularly in this car in Australia since 1980 and the vehicle was issued an Australian CAMS Log Book since 1980.
- Ned Spieker purchased the car from Robert Hands (Australia) in 2003.
- Ned raced this vehicle many times including Monaco in 2004 & 2006, and Goodwood in 2004 with a podium finish.
- Valid HTP until 31/12/2025
