The Ex – Denis O’Sullivan 1964 Brabham BT10 Cosworth Formula 2

  • Sold new to Denis O’Sullivan and run under the Baldyne Engineering banner in Formula 2 and Formula 3 formats. O’Sullivan took victory at Brands Hatch in April 1965, setting the outright single seater lap record in the process.
  • Raced across Europe by next owner Geoff Oliver, with entries in the Goodwood Sunday Mirror Trophy and Gran Premio de Barcelona Formula 2 races before a diverse range of Formula 3 outings including attempted qualification at Monaco. 
  • Subsequently sold to the USA through Robs Lamplough and Fred Opert, where it was raced in the late ‘60s by Fred Harris. Later owned by Brabham collector Joe Maria in New York State before entering the current ownership in 2000.
  • Restored by Simon Hadfield Motorsport in 2002 and maintained, cared for and improved by Retro Track & Air since 2009, with Cosworth SCA engine rebuilt by Geoff Richardson Engineering.
  • Remaining in beautiful condition and a potential entry for the superb Glover Trophy at the Goodwood Revival, along with benefitting from eligibility with the Historic Grand Prix Car Association, F2-14-64 is a charming way to experience some of the greatest circuits in Europe while competing with pre-1966 Formula 1 cars. Previously run in the invitation class with the HSCC Historic Formula 3 series.

Cooper T18 converted in period to FJ

  • 1952 Cooper T18 MkVI chassis 5210.
  • 997cc Ford MAE newly rebuilt by JD Autoworx Ltd.
  • Porsche 356A split-case box (rebuilt four races ago).
  • New Avo shocks all round. New rear springs.
  • New brake shoes, and cylinders. New battery.
  • Was converted to FJ in 1960 – one of two such conversions left.
  • Car History – Exported to Rhodesia in 1954 by with original Norton 500cc engine (probably by the Ferguson brothers) and thought to have then been sold on immediately to Jimmy de Villiers (of Cooper Bristol fame). Cooper 5210 retained original spec until at least 1958 and was then converted to its current FJ spec for a mooted South African FJ series. By I962 had been bought and was raced by Ray Reed and onwards (who built and raced REAL Alfa engine F1 cars and who probably engineered the conversion). The car then went to ground until bought by South African motor sport historian Brian Tyler who researched the car and raced it. In 2015 Brian sold the car in the UK to Alvin Davies who has rebuilt and raced the car since.
  • OMP FIA extinguisher, foam filled tanks. Sparco belts (dated 2022).
  • The car was in South Africa for 51 years, now in UK- since 2015.
  • Eligible for all top events. As a unique car it is attractive to promoters.
  • Copy of 2005 South African HTP, with some pictures.  
  • Last raced in Silverline Championship in 2017, overhauled since.
  • Available for a limited time. The car retains lots of patina, while being in good working order.

Lotus 18

  • FJ 753 originally owned in 1960 by Len Gibbs (Slade’s Garage) and then exported
  • No expense spared restoration and rebuild with all new parts many sourced from Peter Denty or specially engineered. J

  • Never been raced and only tested down the drive, the build comprised completely refurbished chassis, new panels, all new suspension, brakes and steering components, new instruments, tyres, fire system and belts, proper Renault 318 gearbox with dog internals, newly built engine by Jan Nycz and James Murray, new clutch and carbs, rad and oil cooler….and I’m sure I’ve forgotten more!
