Lotus 22
- The car was bought in 2000 by Kevin Whittle from a seller in Germany where it had been advertised as a Lotus 61. Kevin soon realised it was not a Lotus 61 chassis. Peter Denty and Alan Putt confirmed it was in fact a Lotus 22 chassis that had been modified to take Lotus 61 components and bodywork. Correspondence relating to this is included in the documents file.
- Kevin Whittle subsequently had the car rebuilt to Lotus 22 specs and FIA papers issued for it.
- It went through a couple of further hands before I bought it from an auction house in October 2022 and soon realised it required a major rebuild.
- James Denty completely stripped the chassis, installed a roll over bar to the latest specification, re powder coated the chassis and refurbished/replaced all components. Sliding spline driveshafts have been fitted in place of doughnuts as now allowed by the FIA. The bodywork was repaired and repainted.
- Engine fully rebuilt by Jeremy Bennett at Nemesis Racing including a new Richardson cylinder head, new pistons, con rods, valve train etc.
- Hewland 5 speed gear box fully rebuilt by Tony Wilson including a new crown wheel and pinion amongst the many other new parts required.
- On completion James Denty gave the car a shakedown at Snetterton in early November 2024.
- New FIA HTP valid until 31/12/2035
- All bills for purchase and rebuild included in the document file as are the bills for previous works.
