North Star

  • 1961 North Star Mk 1 Formula Junior

  • This was the first competition car produced by North Star Engineering of Warwick. The Mk 1 was affectionately known as Fred (Ford Rear Engined Device). It has had only five owners from new and has a long and well documented history. The car was driven by Bill Belcher from 1961 to 1964 and was very successful in club and national events, including at Goodwood. Unusually the car ran on wire wheels, as fitted today.
  • The North Star has been completely rebuilt in recent years, including a Paul Gardner 1100cc Ford engine with a Richardson head, and a PDS rebuilt Hewland Mk 6 gearbox. Most recently the car has benefitted from new driveshafts, rear springs, exhaust system, roll hoop and front hubs. All safety equipment is in date.
  • FIA HTP Valid until 31/12/2028
  • The car is supplied complete with two very large history files including period programmes, photographs, race reports and adverts, invoices and current and previous HTP papers. Also an exhibition board incorporating the car’s history and original wood rim steering wheel. There is a useful spares package including spare bodywork and a nose mould, with a full list available on request.
  • A regular and well-known competitor in Formula Junior events, the North Star has also raced it the Goodwood Revival.

Cooper T65

SOLD

  • Unique, competitive and beautiful Cooper T65 Formula Junior
  • Appearing at the 1963 Race Car Show fitted with Hydrolastic Suspension and known as the “Hydro Proto Car” Chassis FJ -15-63 was run during that season by the Tyrrell Racing Team.
  • The Cooper then ran in International F3 in 1964 before being purchased by Peter A. Stewart who competed in Scottish races and hill climbs until 1970.
  • The car was laid up until 2007 and not used in competition until purchased by me in 2009.
  • Very successful and reliable, the T65 has been campaigned over the last 10 years, mainly in the Lurani Championship where it won class E2 in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
  • Raced at all the major Grand Prix Circuits and many other major events including , Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen and the Vernasca Silver Flag.
  • Invited to the Goodwood Revival in 2018 where it competed in the Chichester Cup.
  • Race ready condition and is fitted with a very strong Swiftune engine with only 30 minutes running since rebuild. The six speed gearbox has had a major rebuild and has zero hours running since.
  • Belts are in date, tyres have only been run at the Silverstone Classic and Goodwood.

De Tomaso – 1963

  • Swiss full restoration from 2008 to 2014
  • The complete restoration between 2008 and 2014 included every screw, so to speak, of this very rare De Tomaso Formula Junior, which was acquired directly from the De Tomaso factory.
  • The tubular frame, chassis, braking system, engine, shifting and other components were extensively restored by the respected and very experienced Bruno Schaffner.
  • The final assembly was completed by Urban Fässler Mechanik in Hinwil.
  • In total, invoices of about CHF 140’000.- are presented and do not include the purchases or many other honorary services.
  • In total, more than CHF 200’000.- were invested in this De Tomaso Formula Junior.
  • According to a De Tomaso expert, only five examples of these Formula Junior works racing cars were built by De Tomaso.

Lotus 18 FJ-707
