  • 1960 Lotus 18 Formula Junior
  • Frame 987193. body plate 18/J/789 (attached to car).
  • Sold in batch of six too Papa Rodriguez. Raced by Alvarez in 1961 in support race to the 1961 Grand Prix. Copy of race program available.
  • Bought in 2011 to Australia by Rob Hanns and Steve Lunn.
  • Purchased in part by G Dell in 2018 and totally rebuilt.
  • Chassis repaired by Elwyn Bickely and gearbox rebuilt by Colliers (Renaut). Cost to rebuild noted until it got $72992 and then ceased noting.
  • Motor standard Ford Anglia 1000 cc. New front body and another new one included.
  • Original wobbly magnesium wheels. New original style steering wheel, pink leather covered. New water and oil radiator. New fuel tank with baffles. New seat covers, all instruments.
  • 2.40 MM Webbers, all hydraulics replaced and new pedal box fitted.
  • New exhaust fitted, new radius rods and wishbones fitted.

De Tomaso – 1963

  • Swiss full restoration from 2008 to 2014
  • The complete restoration between 2008 and 2014 included every screw, so to speak, of this very rare De Tomaso Formula Junior, which was acquired directly from the De Tomaso factory.
  • The tubular frame, chassis, braking system, engine, shifting and other components were extensively restored by the respected and very experienced Bruno Schaffner.
  • The final assembly was completed by Urban FÃssler Mechanik in Hinwil.
  • In total, invoices of about CHF 140,000.- are presented and do not include the purchases or many other honorary services.
  • In total, more than CHF 200,000.- were invested in this De Tomaso Formula Junior.
  • According to a De Tomaso expert, only five examples of these Formula Junior works racing cars were built by De Tomaso.

Lotus 18 FJ-707

Cooper T18 converted in period to FJ

  • 1952 Cooper T18 MkVI chassis 5210.
  • 997cc Ford MAE newly rebuilt by JD Autoworx Ltd.
  • Porsche 356A split-case box (rebuilt four races ago).
  • New Avo shocks all round. New rear springs.
  • New brake shoes, and cylinders. New battery.
  • Was converted to FJ in 1960 € one of two such conversions left.
  • Car History: Exported to Rhodesia in 1954 by with original Norton 500cc engine (probably by the Ferguson brothers) and thought to have then been sold on immediately to Jimmy de Villiers (of Cooper Bristol fame). Cooper 5210 retained original spec until at least 1958 and was then converted to its current FJ spec for a mooted South African FJ series. By I962 had been bought and was raced by Ray Reed and onwards (who built and raced REAL Alfa engine F1 cars and who probably engineered the conversion). The car then went to ground until bought by South African motor sport historian Brian Tyler who researched the car and raced it. In 2015 Brian sold the car in the UK to Alvin Davies who has rebuilt and raced the car since.
  • OMP FIA extinguisher, foam filled tanks. Sparco belts (dated 2022).
  • The car was in South Africa for 51 years, now in UK- since 2015.
  • Eligible for all top events. As a unique car it is attractive to promoters.
  • Copy of 2005 South African HTP, with some pictures.
  • Last raced in Silverline Championship in 2017, overhauled since.
  • Available for a limited time. The car retains lots of patina, while being in good working order.
